Growing: Planting season: Early spring, starting the seeds indoors 4-6 weeks prior the last frost date and transplanting when the danger of the last frost is gone (if grown to full size) or direct seeding once the soil is workable. Sow every 2-3 weeks for a continuous supply of fresh lettuce.
Soil: light, loose, fertile soil with a pH of 6.3-6.8, preferably rich in organic matter.
Sowing depth: 0.1/0.3in (0.5-1cm) deep.
Spacing: Baby leaf – continious band; full size – 8 to 12in (20-30in);
Row space: Baby leaf – 3/4in (1.9cm) between bands, 16 rows/36in (91cm) bed.
Full size – 12-18in (30-45cm) or 3 rows/36in (91cm) bed, 5in (12cm) centers.
Light: Full sun/partial shade;
Watering: regular to keep the soil moist (not wet);
Fertilizing: Highly recommended.
Seeds germinate in about a week.
