Basic planting guide from Wan Ying of Little Urban Oasis:
- Sprout: less than 1 week
- Sun: min 6 hours
- Water: root zone watering
- Soil: well-drained soil (soil: compost: sand = 50:30:20)
- Prunning: once a week, remove lower leaves, especially those touching the soil, dry leaves or white flies infested leaves. Manage the suckers, typical advice is to remove them but you can keep a few to observe. Suckers fruit too.
- Pest management: spray ABS once a week, top and beneath the leaves (as preventive measure, ABS: Water = 1:300; change to 1 to 200 when you see pest attack and spray at least 3 times a week)
- Days to maturity from seeds: about 3 to 4 months
Thank you Wan Ying for her guidance all this while. I manage to harvest quite a lot of cherry tomatoes this year. Meet my 1st batch of heirloom tomatoes – German Lunchbox 🙂
